For some reason, our GPS forgot we were still driving on the wrong side of the road and felt it had to take us through the heart of London at rush hour. It was quite an adventure and would have been more fun if the streets weren't so narrow and the layout so screwed up. The hotel was nice but quite pretentious so we were careful not to fall into the "oh, that was extra" scheming that was going on.
Our first night we spent exploring the nearby neighborhood including Harrod's which is the largest store I have ever seen. Bigger than NYC Macy's. We only got through part of it.The next day we got on the subway to Picadilly Circus.
The subways were nice and pretty easy to navigate. Here is what we found when we got out..

Every building had such magnificent architecture! We wandered on to see my idol...
For you non-nurses, it's Florence Nightingale. And yes, 40 pictures later we moved on - but I won't bore you with all the pics...
Next was Buckingham Palace.

And of course, the guards

We drove over the Tower Bridge on our way out of town but unfortunately did not get clear pictures of it.
Partly because it was night and the other reason is because it was rush hour again. It was beautiful and almost fairytale-looking. It was lit up more colorfully than any picture I have seen of it.
