Off to Scotland

After a long day of walking the streets of Amsterdam, we took the ferry overnight to Newcastle - actually in England. The ship was significantly bigger than the one we took to Kiel but so was the sea we crossed.
We were offered an upgrade for a nominal fee so we decided to take advantage. With it we got a double bed, a TV and a lounge where we ate and drank for free. We met some whiskey aficionados from whom we learned a lot about the whisky (true spelling) distilleries in Scotland. The ride was rough and we are still recuperating from the 16 hours of bouncing. Apparently the North Sea was feeling cruel that night.
This was our first view of England and the first of many castles.

We were glad to get off the boat - an adventure in itself.
We felt lucky to have landed until we were reminded (by a billion signs) that we had to drive on the left side of the road.
For Don, a devout right handed person, it took a lot of concentration. We were also introduced to "round a bouts" which just made things worse. Eventually we got on the road to Scotland. At least the language was English - the first time since we got to Europe. Or at least most of it!
